Schervier Pavilion Residents, Families and Staff Celebrate Grandparents' Day

Carnival Day picnic and 20th Anniversary Celebration held outdoors at Bon Secours Warwick Campus skilled nursing facility Resident Also Celebrates 100th Birthday at Grandparents Day with Family

WARWICK – (September 12) It was a festive day with colorful balloons, music, a clown, games, prizes and good company.

On Saturday, September 12, Schervier Pavilion residents, their families, staff and volunteers gathered together outdoors as well as under a huge tent to enjoy the annual "Grandparents' Day" picnic.

And, in the spirit of this year's "Carnival" theme, many of the guests, staff members and residents wore the red foam clown noses that were handed out and came dressed in colorful outfits. But more important, it was an opportunity for generations of families to visit their loved ones and enjoy a traditional end-of- summer celebration.

The staff prepared lots of barbecue favorites and families and residents enjoyed a fun afternoon on a beautiful day. There were also games for the children and traditional popcorn, prizes and cotton candy, all free of charge. And thanks to the talent and efforts of Schervier Pavilion staff, the entertainment was non-stop. But most of all, residents stated that they enjoyed getting together with their families for a fun afternoon.

During the event the family of Schervier Pavilion resident Ida Sabini celebrated her 100th birthday, which was the following day. Sabini, who was born in Brooklyn on September 13, 1915, when Widrow Wilson was President of the United States, especially enjoyed a visit with her great great granddaughter Ella.

Administrator Lisa Brocky welcomed everyone and praised her staff for their hard work and dedication. She also announced that this was the 20th anniversary of Schervier Pavilion. Chaplain Father Jamie Bono, IVD, then gave an invocation.

"I want to welcome everyone and to introduce our dream team at Schervier Pavilion," said Brocky. "It's a blessing to work with this wonderful staff, which is so dedicated to our residents."
